Wheels/Tires size

Hi! I am new to this forum. I have a 70 Cuda 440. Looking to put new tires & wheels on it. I particularly do not want factory wheels. Will be dropping it a small bit in order to tuck the wheels a bit. What sizes can I go with and any suggestions to what looks good?

Some kind of torque thrust style wheel, maybe foose wheels? We need some more info...what diameter and width do you want, budget, suspension mods etc.

Yea, wheel recommendations are tough as there are so many subtleties to account for personal taste. Its kind of like telling you who your girlfriend/wife should be.

We can help rough out sizing though.

 Well I'm not real sure. Maybe 17". I was thinking they were Foose also. Know where to buy Foose at a discount 😁

If those are the foose legend, they are roughly $280 for 17's. That's pretty cheap in terms of wheels. I'd go with 17 or 18s due to tire selection. Pick a common tire size to reduce cost and increase brand selection. Watch how wide you go because you'll be running into rubbing issues.

Actually I found out they are Foose Coupe rims (polished)
What are your recommendation for tire size that won't rub?
I will probably go with 17"

I had Nitto 255/50's front and 275/50's rear on 17" TT II's.  I had to roll the lip on the front corners and back, and add a leaf to the springs.

But the critical info is the backspace, what did you use dfrazz? With that size tire I would think you have plenty of spring clearance in the rear. On the front, or with any larger rim, the tire profile also gets smaller, most, most times the overall rolling diam can be matched or similar to factory, this is specifically important on the front when turning as is the front backspace in combination with rolling diam to clear the fender fronts.

Frazz those tires are the perfect size for me. However I cannot find anything in 275 50 17. Are you sure thats the correct size or did you get them a few years ago?

Yes, Nitto NT450. It's on their website and tirebuyer.com has them. I got them from Discount Tire but they had to ship them from Texas.

The TT II's were 8" wide with just over 4" bs.
