    Anyone use Ravelco theft deterrent?

    Looking for a good theft deterrent for my 70 Cuda. It's stored in my garage all the time but my garage is not Fort Knox..... Looking for something to prevent it from being stolen and was wondering what many people here use on their cars? I know a good alarm lets you know when someone gets in your car, and a lo-jack could help you find it after it's taken, but I would like to find something to keep someone from driving it away if they got inside.   

    I saw an ad for a Ravelco theft deterrent system, wondering if anyone has used it or heard anything good or bad about it.
    Or other suggestions some of you may have.

    I have found a kill switch to be very effective, however it will not stop someone from towing it away (I would use lo-jack for that).

    A strategically placed set of vise grips, directly ahead of E-brake cable outer jacket, will keep the E-brake engaged.(even when the release mechanism is pulled)

    Great invention,I guess cutting out a 12"x12" square in the concrete is worth the peace of mind! Thanks for posting :smokin: :thumbsup:

    Go to Home Depot or a Tool rental place & rent a 4" cement coring bit & a large drill... Nice clean round hole... Dig the dirt under the hole out oversize so the new concrete is locked below the slab....

    FWIW The ones listed are only about 2" square & about 24'above ground which is probably fine but also no mention of wall thickness.... Because I like overkill I'd probably make my own out of 3" square 1/4" wall tubing 4' tall so if for some reason your forget to remove it you'll see it before trying to back up....

    Do you have an alarm for your house?  Is garage included?

    When they installed our home alarm system - I made sure they had garage included.

    Not sure what install costs today are ... but now they are wireless and can be accessed remotely ... and when breached, cops are called.  Plus now you'd have home covered.

    Alarms let you know the theft has occurred, on something stolen quickly it doesn't deter the thief... Crooks know they typically have 10+ minutes when the alarm goes off... An old car doesn't take long to steal & represents allot of $$$ it you can deter the thief it's probably a good thing...

    True.   Home alarms usually deter those looking for easy hits.  And we live in neighborhood with lots people home during day .. so loud alarm brings people out quickly.  If we were in middle of nowhere ...

    Lots of neighbors with firearms too .... decent deterrent ......

    Yes I have a monitored alarm system at home although the garage isnt currently hooked up.
    Yes I have cameras around the home although I have to upgrade to get cell phone alerts when activated.

    Was looking for something to make it difficult or impossible to steal my Cuda. The Ravelco looks like a simple idea but apparently can disable the fuel system, ignition, computer (if equipped) and they claim it is impossible to defeat. They claim no cars have ever been stolen (started and driven away) when equipped with one of their devices. And they say some insurance companies offer a 20% to 40% discount when one is installed. Wont keep someone from stealing it by towing it away but looks like it would make it impossible for them to hot wire it. Here's the link if anyone wants to read about it. I guess you can hide the socket anywhere if you didn't want it in view. I think the $499 investment is small compared to if my Cuda was stolen. If I get one I'll update the post with a review.

    The worst part about being robbed is to have your car put on a flatbed and hauled away.

    No worries about starting, unlocking, etc.
