The right would push some but never come out from under the head. I was told by the ones who know, that the left will fail first. Iron X heads. I really hope they hold, I'm tired of working on the same problem over and over.

Having to constantly change head gaskets gets old fast. Assuming the heads and block are flat, it appears to me you have a clamping issue due to the stock head bolts stretching. You can see in the pic that cylinder pressure is pushing the gasket outward centered between 2 bolts. The ARP bolts and a premium head gaskets should solve your issue. Thanks! I hope the new bolts were the right answer. I'm thinking 40 year old bolts shouldn't be reused :thinkerg:

 Cheap insurance: ARP head bolts, main cap bolts and con rod studs. We live and learn. Good luck!
