Help me identify this posi unit
« on: March 29, 2015 - 10:00:36 AM »
Hi guys, this came with my car when I bought it, in one of the boxes of parts.  Can't find it on the net anywhere.  I bet one of you will recognize it.  Thanks for your help.

Thanks, does this have a chance behind a 440 stroked to 512, roughly 550hp with street tires?  If not, what's this worth?

As stated cone type & to add to that the pinion nut came lose & the pinion chewed on the carrier.... Live behind a stroked 440, If it were new yeah it would live for awhile, but that one is used, likely to the point of used up.... And while some folks have machined them to patch them up & get them working they were never intended to be rebuilt & when they do work they are putting metal shavings in the gear oil every time you turn a corner.... Get a Tru-trac.... :2cents:

 :iagree:
I would sell it off & buy a Trutrac
you should be able to get $250 or so for it , I went to buy 4 of them one day on the condition I could pull them apart first & check for wear , they were all beat & I left with none , the cones were worn so badly every one was bottomed out in the case
