71 Cuda convertible seat belts question
« on: March 30, 2015 - 01:46:08 PM »
Hey guys,

I feel stupid for asking this but I have searched this forum and google and looking for assistance here.
I'm trying to find out what is the correct look of the 71 cuda convertible seat belts and retractors. I've seen the flip up latch type and the button type claiming to be 71 belts. So which is correct? I'm also

I would like them to be correct as possible if they are aftermarket.

Can someone please provide some pics of the seat belt ends (male and receivers) and also the front retractors?

Also, if anyone has a complete set (prefer black) in decent condition to get rid of, please let me know.

Thanks guys,  :2thumbs:

EXTREME early 71's may have had the flip-up type receivers, but I've never seen them in a 71.

That's good to know Alan.  :2thumbs:
I've seen some of those for sale claiming 71.

So can you, or anyone else post a pic of the correct looking receivers and retractors?

It is Alan, when they post correct discription to the parts they are selling.

So are these correct for 1971?

They are NOT correct. those are for a B Body.
Alan, there is no way that the clasp type 70 style belts were ever used on a 71 car. 71 belts are push botton style ONLY. The push botton in the picture you posted is the correct style for 1971.

Yes, and what's your point ? We are talking about a 1971 Cuda :dunno:

You mentioned that very early ones could have come with them. Based on the front "pull" belts that would not have been possible.

The belts on the drivers side in that picture are reversed from what they would be when originally installed.

That's what we got from the factory, you can also see we have a console without the ash tray.

Maybe Alan can "correct" them when he does the restoration….

I said EXTREMELY early and "may", which I have never seen, but I've learned never to say never in this hobby...

I agree, but it's hard to argue with a one owner car still in the hands of a very active "car person"  :2thumbs:
