The denso starters off any year magnum truck works awesome. There are a few magnum starters that won't work, like Jeep Grand Cherokee starters.
Like CP said, when they start clicking and not wanting to crank, replace the copper contacts and they will be good as new.

Thank you  burdar , thank you RCCDrew

Now I can order a starter from Rockauto...

I Think a REMY or a Bosch will be o.k ...too     because RA doesn´t list Denso... ...

Update - while the MSD is a little bit pricey it works, sounds and fits fantastic. It is rotatable but found the delivered assembly worked best. Just sneaks through the TTI's with the wheel off through the opening.

Less than $20 from the scrapyard. Original Mopar on a Dakota P/U. Works just fine. May have to remove the plastic thingy, which is just an electrical extender/relocator/adapter. The original posts on the starer are inside of it.
At that price, you can buy 2-3-4 and have spares for when the original fails. STILL saving money on those high dollar ones. The Junk yard ones work as good as the new high dollar ones. For hundreds less.

On that note, I bought a Powermaster High Output Alternator for my Suburban.Bearings went out in the original. Maybe 10 years ago. It has served me well. I put in an Optima Red Top battery in 2001? Maybe 2000, which I bought in '98 or so.
It is STILL going strong! lol. I can't believe it. My everyday driver. Been ran down a few times, jump started a few vehicles, and it keeps going. Severe cold, severe heat, long range short range - no matter what, it has kept going.
I hear the new ones aren't as good? no idea if that's true. I'm a believer in them, for sure.

They won't last very long.    :2cents:
I saw numerous returns on Optima's when I was selling them before.

In daily use an Optima will last , let it sit & go dead & you are replacing it . My red top lasted 13 years

 :iagree:

I had the same experience. Fine in my daily driver , but my "seasonal car" it died and wouldn't hold a charge after that.

My Starter is clicking now. How do I replace the contacts? Can I buy those at a parts store? I don't want to have to pull the headers and put a new starter in. Thanks for the help!

Yes if you have an optima, keep a tender on it, I dont use them anymore. I just use the Autozone AGM Platinum. I went through an Optima every year. I still had the old replacement warranty  but its not as good anymore. So I switched to the AZ AGM much cheaper.  I like it much better, but I also keep a tender on it.

I recently tossed out a Optima and replaced it with an Interstate.

No problems whatsoever!
