I wonder if the pad that's missing would make a difference ....  :clueless:

I was wrong before ... there is a pad ... it was cut short on passenger side so couldn't see/feel it until dropped tank.

I'm wondering if straps are generic or wrong ones and bit too long ... will find out tomorrow when get some washers and have another go at it ....

PS ... just checked ... straps are fine ... just needed bit reshaping from getting little bent counter wise when dropping tank ...  :woohoo:

Hopefully tomorrow the follow up will be how I rode the wife around the neighborhood after I hooked everything up, torqued it down, and filled it up  ...  :stirpot:      :smilielol:

Took all day ... but I took my time and improved some things (strap pads, got more clearance between valence and tank, replaced/fabricated more proper hardware, etc).

1/3+ of tanks of gas and she passed the test ....  :lol2:

After the garage guys come and raise the doors and install the side-mounted motor in the morning ... I'll go fill her up for the big test ... weather permitting ....

My next project is the window and door jab weather stripping ... there's about 1/2" by 1" space between door and jam that will let water go straight into body in front of rear quarter window .... and outside window stripping only seals about 80% fo window ....   :eek4:

Thanks for all help gang!

Topped her off this morning and ran her hard through the gears ... and some corners .... leakage is gone ....  :cooldancing:

Had her only 2 months - though most of time she spent in garage was due to the weather .... this was first time today we were able to go out and actually drive her outside the neighborhood ...  :lol2:

We knew there would be some things ... and I was able to fix them (installing gauges to verifying numbers, grounding switch panel to park wipers, properly capping 1/4" sending unit return line not being used) and relatively simple/minor things (though this grommet was PIA) ... and it gave me some quality time to really go over many parts of car, learn a lot already here ... etc

But today was all about why we got her ... first warm day here and sunny ... rolling down the road listening to that engine and cruising along in dream car ...  (ok ..... and little :burnout:  here or a few chirps there ...   :grinyes:)
