speedo needle jumps
« on: April 07, 2015 - 02:14:29 PM »
Helo my friends

I have ( or better my Chally has ) a problem with the speedometer... if it is cold, the speedo jumps up and down....while driving slower than 50 mph
if I run the car for more than 10-15 minutes it is getting better...  changed the speedo cable..  but still the same

Any Ideas ?  Should I remove the speedo...to put some "Gun Oil " to the gears... ?

Greetings Jurgen

usually that is caused by a dry inner cable. I know you replaced it but did you lube it first? Lots of cables come with the bare minimum lube so they don't leak on the shelf. Also I have seen the inner cable being too long cause this too. Just cause its new don't mean its right.  Don't use gun oil on the speed o use grafite same with the cable too

not really damage but oils draw dust which turns to goo !  a dry lubricant is always best for things like this
