Do you have the two large screws in the pull cup installed ? Are they installed correctly ?

Also, you do know that the top has to clip down onto the top of the inner door frame.  You aren't just trying to push them up to the door and screw them on right?  They have to push down onto the top of the door first.

Answers........

There is a spacer behind the crank handle but I don't know which one. Didn't know there was two different thicknesses. What large spring? There was no spring on my old one. The car is a 74.

Screws in pull cup are installed.

The door clip in not down, it is up. That's the way it came off my other panel. Maybe that's the problem. You say they have to push down on top of the inner door frame first. So that's the first step? I put mine on more from the bottom up, so to speak. I'll get back at it after lunch and let you know how I make out. I love doing everything twice  :pullinghair: Oh wait....I don't have any hair!  :stomp:

Spring behind the crank is only on the 1/4 windows, not the doors.

You should always install from the top down as burdar mentioned

If you're taking it completely off again, snap a picture, if you can, of the window regulator just to satisfy my curiosity :2cents:

Clip the top in first.  The panel should hang on the door.  The top will be held on with that upper clip...the bottom will be loose.

Do you have these springs?  They go on the rear crank mechanism before the panel goes on.  They hold the panel out against the crank handle spacer.  I thought you were having a problem with the rear crank handle...

Darren, I'm just doing door panels. I'm not as rich as Brad, I can't afford both at the same time  :poopoke:

Alan, I'm going to take it off so I'll get some pics for you.

Ha! I'm not rich at all. I just bought the rears thinking as soon as I replaced the doors then it wouldn't match and I'd regret not buying the rears. That and in another post it sounded like they were going to me discontinuing them so I though I'd better get them now!  Now after reading this post I'm regretting buying them at all!  :-\  It was a stretch money wise...

Yes Alan and Darren are better looking than I am!  Especially Alan!  :-*  :roflsmiley:

I think everything will work itself out once he gets the top clipped in first.

I'm back. So I flipped the top clip and got it in place properly. It was a bit tricky but I'm sure it's right. The panel still stands out about an 1/8" as seen in the pic. I pulled the driver's panel out of the box and measured it, then measured the door. The door frame has a somewhat tapered shoulder that the panel fits over but the panel is very square shouldered and seems to be 1/8-1/4" narrower than the door. Herein lies the problem. I can spread the ends a bit by hand but the shop my car is in is only 50* at best and the panel is a bit stiff. So here's my thought, I'll use a hair dryer to warm up the ends of the panel to gain some flexability and spray the door shoulder with WD40. I'm hoping this will let the panel slip on to the door a little deeper and hopefully be flush. Will it work or does someone have a better idea?

On the plus side the door panel does look really good. Just need to get it seated properly.

Alan, I just took a pic of the window crank shaft. I don't know if that's enough for you.
