Tommy's car is going to be an interesting one to watch for all of us "self-proclaimed-what's-it-worth" experts.
The reason I say that is because all logic tells us that his asking price is almost double what we should think the car is worth.
What we have is a 318 Barracuda with a big block, 4spd, and a shaker jammed into it....that's it....
A fully OE restored 1971 documented, numbers matching, cream of the crop 340 auto would bring $60K, but that's not what we have here.
If you wanted to compare this clone to a fully OE restored 1971 documented, numbers matching, cream of the crop 440+6 4spd Cuda, then $60K seems like a pretty good deal....The real thing would fetch 3 times that amount.
But with that being said...Tommy's tribute car has a lot going for it. It's got the perfect look with all the right options, drive ability, dependability and it's a complete hop in, turn key and drive....
There is a strong market of older guys with money who could care less about the numbers crap and simply want a car like Tommy's, ready to cruise now.
You'd be hard pressed to buy a basket case and bring it to this level for this price in my opinion....
Is there better investment 71 Cudas in that price range ? Heck yea, but they might not have the cool factor of this car....
I'll be really curious as to what it actually sells for when it sells. I also think EBay would be a quick way to see where the market is on this type of car....
