71 Barracuda 440-6 bbl Tribute
« on: April 09, 2015 - 05:26:54 PM »
For Sale asking $59,500.   SOLD 7/1/2015
Many of you have seen pictures of the car, but here is a link to photobucket and craigslist. Also added a couple videos to photobucket.
Also just posted to carsonline.

http://s992.photobucket.com/user/trgreen/library/71%20Cuda
http://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/cto/4973421070.html
http://www.cars-on-line.com/78161.html

One of the pictures shows some of the stats and details for the options and features. Three things not on the list are a recently added classic am-fm stereo with aux connection for ipod, etc and speakers, and I gutted my classic style red cap Mopar battery, installing an Odyssey battery inside it. Also added headlamp relays to improve brightness.
I have poured a lot of effort into the car over the 6 years I have owned it. It drives and shows well. In my mind, the only things I might consider adding to the car would be the following:

Drop spindles up front, because its lowered and not a lot of bump stop clearance
Maybe an overdrive transmission. With the 3.54 rear, highway speeds are not its thing.
Torsion boxes and frame connectors to help with some squeaks and rattles.
Legendary leather seat covers with additional seat bolstering.

This is a 12 year old restoration, but it is always garaged, and I have put fewer than 4000 miles in 6 years. 7000 show on the odometer since replaced in 2003 by the prior owner. I also have a shortened crush can on the steering column. Gives me and I think most people a much better driving position.
Anyone who followed my thread on here last year knows I rebuilt my six pack setup and solved several issues with driveability. No longer blows any smoke, and getting 8-9 mpg now instead of 6! It still diesels on shutoff at times though, so it could use a better tune by someone who knows six packs better than me. Idles well once warmed up (I removed the choke system) at about 900-1000 rpm (the tach does not read very accurately for some reason) and can pull stumps out of the ground in first gear.
PM me or post if any questions or requests for different pictures.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
Just posted about 20 more pictures to photobucket.
Posting it to craigslist tomorrow, and maybe autotrader classic, but that will cost about $80 for "til it sells"
Anyone know about oldride?
Is that some sort of amalgamator?

I'd say that probably about 75% of the time I get on here and see the prices people ask for their cars, and I think "wow that's overpriced". And while the price on this car is more than I can afford, I think that this is one of the finest examples of a completed 'cuda I have ever seen, and the price is just fine.

There are very few cars that I look at and think they are perfect, and that I wouldn't change a thing. This is one of them.
Cuda is gone :(

74 satellite, daily driver/project now

Thank you very much.
But it isnt perfect. Pictures only show so much. It can be finicky. It makes a few noises and it drives like an "old" car. Keep some tools handy. I also wouldnt try driving it cross country, although with a nice set of tools in the trunk it might make for an epic trip, if you allow for a delay or two.    :burnout::working::burnout:
Its not for everyone. You will need to be handy, or it will teach you. But, right now it seems to be running great. A couple things dont work quite right, like maybe one of the rear power windows. I havent even tried them lately. Maybe tried them both once! But everything important works.
I love it, dont get me wrong, but if you own one you know what I mean. I'm guessing, having never driven one, a properly done restomod with all the bells and whistles drives with a more "modern" feel, but thats not the purpose of this car. The purpose of this tribute is to try and duplicate what a lightly modded car like this would have been like in 1971, with a couple modern comforts of course.
And hey, its a tribute car. The real beauty of that is you can remake it into a tribute of whatever you want. I just happen to think this one filled my dreams.
