1 poly-loc motor mount?
« on: April 09, 2015 - 07:02:48 PM »
Any reason why I can't use the poly-loc motor mount on the drivers side only? It's mostly a streetcar and I would like to keep the vibrations to a minimum.

I use standard mounts, but have a Schumacher Torque Strap on the drivers side.
Polylocs are known to fail on occasion.
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

I will be using one on the drivers side with the new hemi.  It maintains the original look.  :2cents:

I have heard poly locks can cause a bad vibration in the rails.  I used mag mounts from Mancini and they worked great.  Installing them again for the 440 in the Charger.

with a torque monster Hemi, I'd be inclined to have a torque strap.
If a mount breaks, you could have major damage.

Forget it. I put just the driver side in and with the shaker it looks stupid. The shaker on the drivers side is sitting up very high on the other side it's very low so I'm going to put them both in.

Is there a difference in the height of the engine on poly's.  I have them in my 71 challenger with a 440.  Have been having a problem of the center link rubbing the pan.  Are they lower or taller than stock?

My engine sits a little higher than with the stock mounts. But I'm thinking that the extra 1/4 -3/8" is because the old mounts settled.  My car is a 70 Cuda 440 and the only extra vibration I notice is at 65 mph. Sort of a buzzing not really a vibration through the steering wheel. Barely noticeable.  Love the ploy-locs.

I looked for the mag mounts for an e-body that works with a hemi but couldn't find them.   :crying:
