Headers for 70 Chally 318

What is up fellas, I'm trying to get some ideas on replacing my stock manifold with some headers. Anyone know of any decent/good headers that are direct bolt in for a 318? Something  that won't break the bank....thanks for any help.

I am also looking at headers one thing to watch is a lot of them won't fit with power steering, do you have power steering?

I bought a set of Headman headers for my 1970 Barracuda 318 from Rock Auto, think they were like $150. If you live, drive in an area with rough roads you might wanna crank up the front torsion arms for a bit of clearance, as they did scrape once in a while. I think my front has sagged over the 40 years tho. Make sure if you have power steering you get the ones for that, as I think the manual steering headers are different.

IMO you have only 3 choices , TTI , Dougs & Hooker 5115 , every other header goes under the steering & will be smashed flat immediatly wasting your $$ , most are cheap & thin & will warp & leak as well . either stick with manifolds or buy good headers or you will regret wasting your $$

  You get what you pay for.  TTI is arguable the best, but the most expense too.  What is your purpose for switching to headers on a 318?

I'll third that.

Unless you can score them at a swap meet for $50, I'd skip inexpensive units. Any of the cheaper versions all wrap around the drag link and are a pain to install. Sometimes you can find the Hooker 5115 used for a fair price. Dougs and TTI are the best fitting, best sealing, and best looking out there, but you will pay for them. I don't have any experience with any of the shorty or mid length headers, but IMO, those are all only as good as the best manifolds power wise.

Hey Aussie Mark, yes.....i have power steering. I see how the driver side can be a pain in a are to fit.

Just for sound, i know it won't do much in terms of HP on a stock 318. I plan on making it dual exhaust at the very least. If it's a pain, i don't mind keeping the stock manifolds and just going dual exhaust.

A good flow master muffler will help your sound at a fraction of the cost of headers.

Spend the money on Good headers, I have coated TTI on my Cuda, it has PS and fast ratio arms and they have a mile of clearance

That is what I did when I first got my car.  I brought some flow master 2 chambers to a muffler shop and they bent and installed the 2.5" exhaust for me, ~$200 in 1988.

Do you live near Portland, OR?  If so and if you want it, you can have my old exhaust - from manifold connection to turn downs.
