Coolant Recovery System

Anyone done something like this?  When my overflow bottle is full, I have to drain it and poor coolant back in radiator.
If I had a recovery system, this would be unnecessary, and always keep radiator completely full. I know you need a different
type of radiator cap.

I have an overflow bottle like that. But don't you need a special radiator cap to make it a recovery system?

Wouldn't this work on early Ebodys?  More dough, but at least it looks stock, if that is what one desires.

Another issue is recovery systems may operate at lower pressures.

I gotta find a cap that will relieve to recovery tank, yet open in the opposite
direction to allow recovery tank contents to be sucked back into the radiator.

Just had a guy tell me he has a normal overflow bottle, and a regular radiator cap,
and he hooked up the radiator overflow line to the bottom of the overflow bottle.
He said on cooldown, water goes back into radiator, but I dont see that happening,
based on design of radiator cap?

Look up radiator caps for 73-74 Barracuda.  They are 16psi.  Here is one from Stant good for both closed or open systems.  Says it will work for overflow recovery system.  The only thing, is the neck same size as early Ebody.  Some application charts say 70-74 on radiator caps.  When reading about radiator caps for reservoir systems has 2 springs.  One for pressure and one for vacuum when engine cools down.  Pretty simple.

I'll be calling Be-cool tech guys tomorrow. I think they have a cap. In which case, when I get it,
I'll connect the overflow to the bottom of overflow bottle, and see if that works to keep my radiator full.
Right now, level is about 3 inches below neck, after several trips in car.

Correct, the cap can do both with or without recovery system.

Sounds to me you already have one.  Just need the proper radiator cap.  Anyway, should be a simple functional solution either way you go.

You would think a normal cap should work.
On my car, the coolant heats up, then goes to the overflow bottle,
from the cap hose.
Then, when car is cold, I open radiator cap, and level in radiator
is about 3 inches below cap. So, how did that air get into radiator,
if not through the radiator cap, which is plumped to the overflow bottle?
If air did not get into the radiator while it cools down, then
it would create a negative pressure, and possibly do damage to
gaskets, etc.
