What are these?
« on: April 15, 2015 - 04:58:58 PM »
Sorry no pictures for you.  Just had to draw people in.  I can take some if it helps though.

There are rubber "covers" on the inside of the fender behind the shock tower, one on each side.  Looks like access windows or something.  What are these called and what are they for?  Would it be smart to remove them to help reduce engine bay heat?

Don't think removing them will help much with heat removal, would help with dirt, mud, water getting in engine bay.

Believe it or not, it will relieve some heat if removed.  By mistake I didnt reinstall mine after a front end rebuild almost 2 years ago. I have a digital temp gauge, and it does wrk.  I dont get any more dirt under the hood than I did before.  Some dust maybe, but mud and dirt, no.

I might try it. Obviously it's right behind the front tire so it will pick up some dirt. The kicker for me is that it's the exact spot where my fuel line is closest to the headers. It might help me combat vapor lock

maybe build a type of scoop that will bolt in place , to keep most of the dirt out?  :dunno:

Thats a great idea, rearward facing scoop that pulls heat out as the car is moving.  Hmmmmmm.

You could get really silly and incorporate bilge pump blowers like race cars use for cooling brakes.
