Pro Billet Distributor?

Has anyone tried one of those Pro Billet Distributor #6614 that are on E-Bay for around $50? Looks like a MSD knock off. The price seem so cheap compared to the MSD one.

I put one in my small block 340 and so far it has worked fine.  The car started right up once I got the timing set.  Time will tell.

That means cheap, will fail you soon, I suspect,
or give you poor performance!!

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

But $50.00? REALLY? What do you exspect for a $50 piece of chinese junk? You may have spent thousands on getting your engine rebuilt, and expect a $50 dollar dist. to control it all?

Good luck, buddy. Not trying to be demeaning. I had the same question about valvetrain. Was eyeing the Scorpion lifters. Every reply I got, was that VALVE train was NOT one area that you want to skimp on.
Finaly decided to bite the bulet and go with the retro-fit hyd. rollers. Avoid two issues with one stone, as it were, lol. It sucks. It costs money. But in the long run, it's cheap insurance.

$50.00 these days will buy you a couple of pizzas and a couple cases of beer. Maybe not that much. is it worth it for you to find out?

Exactly! You get what you pay for! Even if these things were free, I wouldn't trust my engines survival to it. Don't want to skimp on something as important as a distributor. Not trashing the product but I would feel better using an MSD for ignition.

I would not trust my engine to this distributor. I'd rather spend the money for an MSD with a warranty.

I have seen the MSD fail just as fast & a warranty won't pay the $250 tow bill home !!
 2 for $100 & the first could outlast the MSD

Skip White brand uses, the Pro-Comp cap and rotor, and comes with a female cap, but you can use the terminal, wire holder, positive type, too. It has to have the total advance stops bent towards the center to get:  16+ initial and 38* total. The pick up is a large Ford type and the only obvious weakness is the color of the wire, brown and black, brown is positive and goes to the green CD trigger wire.  It comes with no wiring code. It seems to work fine.

And engine always pulls strong up to 6000 rpm.
though a replacement cap one year did not vent well,
and moisture built up. Drilling a hole in cap solved that.

I doubt a $50 distributor would perform solidly for
a long time, especially at 6000 rpm. Just my opinion, though.

I had one of the new all in one MSD dists in a 451 stoker , [customer choice] it lasted approx 1 week , not daily driven even & failed 200 miles from home at a car show....  only $250 to get it flat decked home including the free miles CAA included  , if a stock ign failed any parts store could have got him home  :2cents:

My recurved stock distributor does just as well.

Would not think a billit MSD distributor and a stock distributor
would perform the same, as far as spark quality, duration, and timing,
at higher rpms.

If MSD's were really poor, then the market would eliminate them, just as it did
the Demon carbs.
