1968 Charger R/T 440
« on: April 21, 2015 - 12:42:03 PM »
Looking for 68 Charger with VIN/Fender Tag as 440 R/T with floorshift. Preferably black but color and the rest doesn't matter as long as it's a solid driver or better. Thanks.

Join the crowd that is looking for the same exact thing!

It's a tough proposition and lately I've been seeing total rust buckets for 20k!!!

OK, "any color will do." Let's see if that generates some leads. You obviously know what "project" I have in mind! But I'd prefer to start with a 440 floorshift (auto or manual). Man, I swear just a few years ago  I saw decent 440s out there for $15-20K. Now it's more than double that. Maybe I should just start with a 318 and get on with it. Much less valuable when it's done but much less expensive to start with too!

I 've been looking for a 68 RT 440 auto has to be triple green with bucket seats and a console shifter. Grew up in that car and have wanted one since my dad sold ours in 1976 with 114,000 miles. The sound of that car wide open throttle is etched in my memory FOREVER!!!!

Yup they jumped in price due to popularity with the F&F movies - I have a 69 RT and like HP_Cuda said I keep seeing complete rust buckets sell for around 18-20K.

Just an FYI, my father just sold his unrestored, numbers matching, 68 Charger R/T SE 440 car for ~$18k last month. It was a red car with black vinyl top and black interior. A near identical car sold on eBay a few weeks later for 20K. That should give you a rough idea what to expect to spend for a complete, relatively rust free car.

Yea the black/black/black guy and I have traded calls but haven't hooked up yet. That car didn't start life as a 440 but I like what he's done with it...nice car (except price!). I'd prolly take out the buddy seat and go console-less. Would be hot down here in ATL in the summer w/o AC  but "comfort" ain't what it's about!

Darkside, do you know if the Arkansas car is a 440 and does it have floor shift (as opposed to 3 on tree)? Thx.
