TTI Hanger question
« on: April 22, 2015 - 08:49:06 PM »
The E-body TTI hangers have one side wider than the other.  Does the wide side go inboard or outboard?

Really?  I only used 1 for my driver's side since the passenger side already had something.
Almost certain they were symmetric/same.

Hmm!  I didn't notice that when I installed mine!  Call TTI and ask them.  They are great people and will make sure you are completely satisfied.

Yes, there is an offset to the hangers.

When I installed my TTi exhaust over the Winter, I just flipped the brackets until they fit the best. I did not buy their mufflers, so I just adjusted the brackets (side to side, left/right) until the mufflers fit. The Ebody brackets are very nice pieces! Just loosen the bolts a tad until you have them where they fit, then tighten them down.

If you take it apart and flip that top piece, aren't they the same?

All same pieces, just a matter of how its bolted together?

I thought you were talking about the bracket that bolts to floor pan.

I was kinda thinking the same thing , any extra space in this area is a plus, I thought about making something more compact... painting them black is a good idea Alan . 1wildRT, what did you use to replace them with?

At noon time today , I tooka look at the hangers, the top plate is 1/4 thick (I thought that is kinda excessive) The sides and the hardware all together weigh over 5lbs a pair and take up a good bit of real estate. I am not sure why they are so big and bulky.., I might call the engineer over there..I was thinking of welding the pipes together and using a clamp and a muffler hanger , when I assemble my car.

You're building a custom car....I would remove all signs of the factory hangers and clean up their entire location. Then make a small discrete hanger welded to the floor, supporting the system just in front of the stock muffler location and weld the tail pipes to the mufflers :2cents:

I used a basic muffler hanger as pictured below with a 3" muffler clamp... The top strap is ugly but since it needs to be short I actually ground off the head of the rivet attaching that strap & the bolt that goes to the stock hanger goes through that hole... Turned out pretty clean for very few $$
