Value Of This Engine?

In Ohio a big block is for sale and I wanted to get your ideas on its value. 
It's a 440,  .030 over,  balanced crank and rods,  Speed Pro pistons,  HBeam racing rods,  Comp Cam and lifters,  Melling oil pump.  Motor assembled 3/15.  Asking $1950.  Sound reasonable?   What questions should I ask when I call?  Thanks,  Greg.

Unless I hear and see it run, I dont buy it, period.  Asking whomever built it isn't really the answer (unless you RELLY know the mechanic personally)

Basically it has to be worth the asking price , parts & machining would exceed that price but what is in it & do you want it ?
Speed Pro pistons means nothing , cheap cast , hyper , or forged which ios the only thing I want in my engine , I would toss the Comp cam anyway .
 No info on heads at all ?  What compression ratio ? 
 Definatly need more info , talk to the machinist , get receipts ,

Questions: how was it honed out .030 (machine, cnc or by hand)? What finish was put on the cylinder walls (plateau preferred), was it honed with torque plates or not? Final piston/wall clearance? Whose rods, rod length, steel used, whose rod bolts, was a stretch gauge or torque wrench used on them? Whose rings? moly? size? profile (barrel, Napier)? As mentioned, what kind of piston (cast, hypereutectic or forged) wrist pin size, wall thickness, type of retention (clips, spiralock, pressed), compression ratio and with what head/chamber size? coatings? steel crank or cast, journal sizes and are the throws filleted? cross drilled, lightened? end play when set in block? condition of snout (grooved from seal wear or sleeved)? Was the block tanked or sonically cleaned, type of frost plug (brass or steel) is the block trimmed up or painted internally? Some folks don't like Comp cams and they ARE Chevy/Ford oriented, but they didn't get to where they are now by being dummies or making a poor product. Find out exactly what part # cam is in it and CALL Comp and discuss it. They have a HELP line and some smart guys on it; then decide if you like it or not. There's a few of the questions you need to answer if you're going to sleep well @ night. If it all checks out ok, that's a smoking deal, but DO your due diligence FIRST. Hope this helps!
