FINALLY - Completed the US Car Tool Inner Fender Brace Kit
« on: April 23, 2015 - 04:47:35 PM »
Hey all,

Well I've finally completed the installation of the US Car Tool Inner Fender brace kit.  It took way longer that I thought dialing in the welder to deal with the thick steel to the thin steel of a 44 year old car.  But I'm very please with how they turned out.  I had an earlier version of the braces which required a fair amount of fabrication to get them to fit exactly the way I wanted.  But I'm very pleased with the outcome.

Looks great! Yes they do require a bit of fabrication work to get them fitting just right , but are worth it in the end! :2thumbs:

I put the older style on. I wish I would have waited to get the type you have. Mine are to reliant on the firewall while yours are concentrated on th eedges where it has more support. Oh well maybe the next time. What am I crazy? What next time? :pullinghair:

Nice work.  :2thumbs:
They take a lot of test fitting and cutting  :working: , but they really do make a big difference to the front end. As others have said. Well worth the effort.

I had the XV tube type braces installed, but cut them out once I heard that my tire will rub at full compression.  I replaced them with the US Cartool braces.  It was a bit of work, but worth it.  My car feels super tight now and I cannot see any motion of the front of the car when I hit a large bump.  Its an excellent modification to do!!  Nice job too.

I would like to do this but I have one question..  If I jack up my car at the front it might shift a little upward less than 1/2", if I put jack stands behind the motor, say about the torsion bar mount, & let the weight off the jack it drops maybe 2+inches.
How do I know where to support the frame & have it in the correct position before starting the process of adding these stiffening pieces?

Mine are US Cartool braces from awhile ago. The ones in your picture look a lot lower than mine.

I left mine on my dollies that's the same as keeping them flat on the floor. U.S. Car Tool says to install them flat on the ground also.

On it's wheels and level front to back.
I think it is the only way to do it.
