Show on Discovery about how the inspectors at the factory would only pic the best off the assembly line to be painted Black or TX9.    Any truth to that?   They paid $20,000 and are redoing.    And we're talking about tubing , 392 hemi, all sorts of  things.   :clueless:

"IF" Thomas really paid $20k for that p.o.s. he's a fool. It's a 340 3 speed black 71 Cuda hardly the "Holy Grail" they keep talking about. $6k for an original grille??? I'll pull mine out right now and sell it for $5k  What a load of B.S.

Maybe their install of the 392 Hemi will go better than Gas Monkey Garages recent build???

Their total cost for restoring that Convert Camero was an outright lie.

No way with that much metal replacement did they make any profit at all. Of course like all TV shows they don't show any labor costs.

What a joke.

Just saw them sell it for $100k.
Supposedly had a total of $70 into it.
I know they had to cut a LOT of corners, so I dont believe it was a legitimate sale. Where do they get these buyers?
Gotta admit though, it was a seriously bad ass sweet looking car, at least on TV. Up close Im guessing it didnt look near as nice.
From all the crap spewing out of Toms mouth, I dont believe anything they say.  :violin:

And I just watched him sell the B5 cuda for $39k. The one Richard paid $28 for and thought was top dollar.
Where are these buyers in the real world? Especially the ones that show up the day you put the ad up.

TX9 wasn't popular, that's why its "rare". Nothing special about it otherwise.

I can't believe how mis-information multiplies because of one stinking show.

Yeah, I'm always curious where they find these fully funded buyers will to plunk down top dollar on stuff that is thrown together.

After they painted it they were working underneath the car and it showed a ton of surface rust. 100 grand and you get rust?  :scared:

I noticed that too....grinding away in rusty areas behind the rad support, before installing the engine, but AFTER they painted the car. I guess their $9800 price didnt include anything but the outer panels!?
I bet they rattle canned everything else.

And why are the fat guys on these shows always named Tom?

As far as "todays" prices for '71 Cuda's. Thomas supposedly paid $20k for an incomplete rust bucket 340 3 speed car (this car was overpriced by $10k for what he got). Richard paid $28k for a complete non-running/driving 340 auto "survivor" which he claimed was "All the money" on that one (I believe $28k was "fair" for the overall condition), a $5 can of car wax and Thomas sold it for $39k (yeah right)

They completely butchered the black car and when it was freshly painted and they started tearing it apart to grind the rust off the rad support I knew they're IDIOTS!!! They definitely rattle canned the firewall and rad support. The guy who "paid" $100k had money to burn or he would have kept looking.

Or he was in the pay of the producers and/or the network to may sure that the story "paid off."
