Winter projects - Wrap up DONE!!!
« on: April 25, 2015 - 11:47:17 PM »
Anyone else wrapping up their winter projects?

I am finishing off a few things before I go for my first spin of the year:

finally taking the ugly sticker of the rear valance of my cuda.

Before:

In progress:

I am also repainting and shaving the bumpers:

The will go back to purple form the primer gray.

My dad owns a body shop back home and my brother and nephew are doing the work.  My nephew, does not seem to be too happy about it!!

And possibly the biggest visual change to the car, and one I have wanted to do for a very long time, de-arching the rear springs, I dropped the rear 4 inches:

Before:

After:

I hope to roll it out of the garage in the next week or so an get some pics, but to give you a visual I used to be able to put my fist (held vertically) between the rear tire and the rear fender lip (ride height was 29 inches), now the wheel lip is jus below the top of the tire (ride height is about 25 inches).  I am very excited to see what it looks like and how it rides.

You did a fantastic job on your car Jason.  The new paint looks outstanding.
Make sure you post a few pictures when everything is put back together and another side shot to show the drop.

finally got everything back together and went for a spin today.

good news...it looks awesome!

I forgot how much I like to the color keyed bumpers.

I love the new stance...it is perfect!

The bad news is, it rides really really rough...its almost like its bottoming out...but its not, in fact the rear moves very little when you bounce on the back end.  Lots of space between the rubber bumpers and the axle tubes.

I wonder if the shock are too short or if its hitting on the pinion stopper!!!

What brand of shocks?
KYB? I hope not. Those are are like riding in a lumber truck on a bumpy road.

How's the exhaust sound now? A little quieter?

Thanks guys.

shocks are 23 year old parts store pieces...probably worn out.

Unfortunately I have not got around to the exhaust project yet...hopefully over the summer.
