Mouse Trouble!

Does anybody have a sure fire way to get rid of these sorry mice? They must have infiltrated some time during the winter, and I seem to have one or two in the car and I've tried everything to get rid of them. I was driving it in early April and saw him on the passenger side run up under the dash (don't know if he went under the carpet or up in the actual dash.) Put a couple traps in there with peanut butter and he wouldn't go in them! A month later and still not a trap has went off. At that time, I also put in those bags with peppermint oil that was supposed to drive mice out and it didn't work at all. Yesterday I stuck two things of Decon in there. I was driving it today and I'll be danged if I didn't see the thing twice. Once he ran up under the dash on the passenger side and then again he was in the passenger side floor. Thing with these e-bodies is with the door panels and things the way they are, they can run around between all the panels and the car and you'll never know they're there. I never even see any sign of a mouse, just the mouse. Stupid things, I hate them. I saw him go right by my Decon like it wasn't even setting there. I also sprayed some Febreeze in there yesterday because I heard they hated dryer sheets, and I didn't have any of those but figured it was worth a try. Even put a cat in there for a while and he was too lazy to find them. Anybody else got any ideas to get rid of this stupid thing?! There are absolutely no food/crumbs in the car, and I dismantled a little nest I found in the trunk early this spring and he's still there. Am I just gonna have to search the car out and find the nest? I've never seen a mouse that won't go in a trap or go to the poison.

I've had charcoal under my cars for 20 years+ . Don't get me wrong I've had mice in my garages, but NEVER in any of my cars. BTW don't use the match light variety.... Now if there already infested your car, that's another issue entirely

That's a good trick to know! I'll definitely use it if I can ever get the thing out!

I've had those unwanted passengers too. I got lucky with a piece of Black Diamond cheese slices as bait.

Maybe try several traps. I don't know what that Decon is, is it that sticky stuff. If you haven't tried that maybe that's an option.

 Decon is just a trade name for those poison blocks. They're supposed to eat on those and get really thirsty and leave for water and die. Haven't tried the sticky ones but the traps I do have are the spin type. I might try some of those old school ones like you've got pictures that won't require the mouse to go in a channel to get killed. I'll put some of those in tomorrow and see what happens

I installed 4 of the electric mouse deterrent ones you plug in the wall spread out a bit and knock on wood I haven't seen a mouse since. Also put dryer sheets in the cars and trucks, so far so good!

I've heard that putting moth balls around in the car keeps mice out too!  Now how many moths you have to catch to get their balls I don't know! But seriously I know a guy who swears by them he even puts them in his air cleaner and around his engine bay

I have heard that as well. If I can ever nab the ones that have already made their way in, I'm gonna take every precaution to keep the other ones out!

I've been told they hate dryer sheets. Never tried this, though.

Go ahead and use the moth balls as the smell will drive them out of the car and probably  the garage

There was a similar post a few years ago on here. It said Irish Spring bar soap and Bounce dryer sheets. So I tried it in my (now sold) Buick The mice ate the soap and crapped all over the car including in the dryer sheets. Get a cat!
I'm surprised the peanut butter in the mouse trap didn't work?    I use cheese and cover it with peanut butter, they seem to not be able to resist it around here, it's like crack for mice. Never has failed me yet.

This also works pretty good, but I add antifreeze in the bottom so they drowned and don't stink.

I captured 7 of them this winter,used the sticky traps, some are dumb run right to it,and some are smarter, and will wait, so the I had some  stinky Wisconsin  sharp cheddar my Buddie brought back, I put it on there and I came back and I got the pesky last one. be patient they will land in the trap sooner or later good luck
