    Hi my name is George. I acquired a 1970 Cuda convertible, needs to be put back together, needs new wiring, seat skins. It is originally a 318 car bored to a 340. Bought a 440 six pack motor to put in. Need a big block K member, big block 727 transmission. Originally a automatic, Would like a 4 speed but don't want to take on more than I can handle. If I keep it an automatic the wife can drive it occasionally. I would like to get a hemi 727 transmission If I can find one for sale. Will post pics later when I figure it out. Looking forward to a awesome car. George

    Welcome!  Sounds like an awesome car!  What are the original color combination's?

    You might want to get a picture hosting site for posting pictures here.  a site like photobucket or imageshack.

    A 318 (3.910) bored to a 340 (4.040) would have paper thin cylinder walls (that is a 130 thou) good thing you are replacing it with a big block. Small block k frames are the same as big block so you don't need to change it, all you need are the brackets that attach the rubber engine mounts to the engine block (the rubber mounts are the same on big and small blocks) and some thicker torsion bars.

    Darn it-------- I thought for just one second what a great idea it would be to mil all of those 318's into HP 340's!!!  Too bad it ain't going to happen….

    Thanks for all the nice welcomes . The car is painted hemi orange by previous owners. It is originally yellow twist I think. I have already bought a 71  440 hp six pack motor. Need a shaker hood and bubble. Old owner thinks I should media blast the car and restore fully. I would be happy to piece it back together drive it on summer days and restore the car within a year or two. It would give me a chance to save up more funds to do it properly. Plus you know how it is when the paint is perfect. You see every new scratch when you wash it. I just want to take it out here and there and enjoy the car without worrying about the paint job. Thanks for the info on the k member and motor mounts. Saves me buying a another k member. I feel lucky just to have a cuda convertible. Any sources on a good big block 727 hemi transmission. Also wondering about wiring the car . Is the wiring different from a  318 to  440? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I think you guys have a great forum here.

    Year One has OEM style wiring harnesses that duplicate the factory electrical connections which is very helpful. The engine harness for big block or small block are the same I think with the exception of the later models being for electronic ignition. If your planning on using aftermarket electronic ignition, it doesn't matter. Dash harness is different for standard /Ralley gauges. The front/rear lighting harnesses are the same. I would change them all to avoid electrical issues later. You will also want to do the ammeter bypass and headlight relay kit during the resto. These are weak links in the system. :thumbsup:
