73 Challenger Gage Voltage Regulator
« on: May 06, 2015 - 08:39:48 PM »
Hopefully someone can help here. On my Rallye gage cluster, the jumper wire that goes to all the gages is always hot, even with the key off. Any ideas??
Thanks

If it has been re-wired so to speak, maybe someone just took a 12v battery sourced wire and fed the reg. If it is original uncut harness, then maybe the ign switch? You will need a voltmeter and check to see if the 'run' wire from the ign switch goes to 0 volts after you turn off the switch. Does your battery go dead overnight?

The wire that is always hot is supposed to be going to the clock. The wire that gets voltage with ignition and ACC should go to the gauge voltage limiter.

Double pink wire female crimp is for the clock, single black wire female is for the gauge voltage limiter.

The double pink at the clock can also be gang banged for constant power for a new style stereo's "yellow-wire" to keep it's preset stations saved. It is right above the stereo.
