I have no knowledge of the rules in California, but I do know that if you find an Oregon License plate specific to your year you can register that plate as an antique Auto plate, with a one time fee, and if I remember correctly it was not that much, the only stipulation is that you can't use it as a daily driver, it has to be going to a parade, car show, etc. which is pretty vague. I never put the antique sticker in the year location, and have driven my car like this for 10 years, and have never been pulled over. Plus in 1970 the Oregon Plates were Blue with yellow numbers, like California...
