Strange thing happened last week.  When I was just about to turn off the Challenger after about a 30 mile round trip, I heard what sounded like something coming loose in the valve cover!!  I opened up the valve cover and found the adjusting bolt on the rocker arm had sheared off!  I am not sure if this is just a fluke weak part or something else wrong.  I checked the push rod and it was perfectly straight and did not show any signs of wear or discoloration on the ends and the rocker seemed fine.  The engine ran GREAT up to the point I turned it off and heard the noise.  I am planning on taking my borescope and looking at the #2 Cylinder to see if there is anything unusual inside.  Hopefully, just a broken adjusting bolt and a quick replacement and valve lash adjustment and I'm back on the road...hopefully!

A defective adjusting bolt or maybe the lock nut was over torqued? It sheared off just under the nut.

Yea, sheared clean off just under the jam nut.  Hopefully, just an over tightened nut.  I ordered a couple from Mancini Racing and they should be here today.  I will install, adjust the valves and see what happens!

I've messed with cars for 45 years and I'm too much of a worrier to ever run aluminum rockers. I'd be worried about the other 15 now. That's just me though. I always run the antique Isky or Crane irons.

Hey Brad,

Growing up my parents always told me we won the lottery by getting the chance to come to the GREATEST NATION ON EARTH  :wavingflag: from a third world country!  My brothers and sisters and I grew up with nothing but opportunity and I would like to believe that we all made the most of it! :)

I scoped the #2 Cylinder and everything looks to be in order.  I put the new adjusting bolt on, adjusted all the valves and it runs better than it ever has!   :woo:
