HiCudakiller70.
The hood is a new AMD hood. I just wet sanded it, primed it and then painted it. It took a little bit of time to wet sand it by hand but im happy how it turned out.

Thanks guys.  It's coming along, hopefully I'll be able to fire the engine and paint it soon!

The engine has spark and turns over finally. Getting close to actually firing it up for the cam break-in. Hopefully that takes place this weekend sometime!

Good job!  Love the color.

Although...kind of cringed at seeing that beautiful firewall get an orange box drilled on it.

Simple solution for hiding that box:  http://www.rocketresto.com/catalog/electronicignitionbrackets.html

Also, why do you have TWO ballast resistors?  Looks like the dual one is where the voltage reg usually is???  :dunno:

Hi ragtopchally.

I agree with you, the orange box isn't the best on the fire wall.  If I would had known about the bracket you sent a link for I might have gone for that option. But since I have it mounted now I will most likely keep it where it's at.  Although, I think if I were to paint it black it would look a lot better.  I'm considering that option, but I'll probably wait for now until the car is done and is able to be driven. As far as the 2 ballast resistors, the single one was originally there where I bought the car.  The dual one I purchased because I purchased a 70 challenger harness.  My car is originally a 72 with 318, but I needed a new harness and thought I get one with for a 70 with a 440.  Not sure how much of a difference there is but thought I'd match it up the best I could.  So when it came in I noticed the dual pin so I decided to get the dual resistor.  I need to double check what the single resistor went to.  I thought it might be the wiper motor, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

Just remove that single resistor and put the dual one there.

You have a 3-speed wiper motor, so no external resistor for that.

Where's your voltage reg?  Or do you have a 1-wire alternator?

Yes the alternator is internally regulated from 440 source. Bought the whole kit from there and it worked out good. Now i dont need to mount an external voltage regulator.

Installed the rear windshield today, it is smoked out glass.  Tomorrow will be the first fire of the engine.  Fingers are crossed everything goes well!

Well i tried firing up the engine a few days ago, but had no luck. After looking at a few things, the engine was checked for compression and it had no compression , grrrrr!

So called a buddy who rebuilds engines on the side. He checked the push rods at TDC said that it seems as though one them (cant remember if it was intakeke or exhaust) was still under load when the piston was at TDC when it should not be. He suggested pulled the timing cover off and checking at location the cam was installed. So i had to pull the front part of the engine completely off, grrrrr. But when i looked at timing marks for lining up the crank and camshaft it was dot to triangle. I called comp cams and asked what they suggested. They said it should be dot to dot. So that was changed and now we have compression!!! Yea! So my goal today is to get the engine back together.  Hopefully i can fire it up tomorrow.
