Suggestions for the "best" oil w/ zddp.
« on: May 19, 2015 - 11:11:36 PM »
I need to change my Break-in oil and am conflicted on the best oil to choose?
I saw on line some guy who did some tests with a bunch of different oil companies and gave the PSI values of each oil and the amounts of Zinc and phosphorus in each oil. I thought I had narrowed it down to either the brad penn 10w30 or the Amsoil Zrod 10w30.  There were several comments from other people, that only made me more confused and less sure of the best oil to go with.
I used comp cams break-in oil.  I search on the forum for a discussion on this issue but didn't find anything.
Would appreciate any suggestions / experience on this matter
Thanks
Mike

I just put in mobil 1 15w50. Says right on the back it has zinc added. The reason I chose that above the others is it was the only one I could find local.
Cuda is gone :(

1967 Dodge WM300 (2)
1971 Plymouth Duster
Bought new in '71; I wanted the Challenger but they were $2850; too much $ so I got the 318, 3 speed on the floor, Twister Duster for $2100.

I ain't done yet.

Spectro with zinc already in it, I was told full synthetic and zinc don't work well together.

We used Valvoline racing oil plus a zinc additive to break it in. After that just the racing oil.
