Mopar nut newbie that finally got one!
« on: May 20, 2015 - 05:49:25 PM »
Hey everyone!

I am a huge Mopar fan and have always wanted one. I've built countless plastic models of Dodge and Plymouth muscle cars and here I am! I finally got a 1972 Challenger to satisfy my urges. The car was originally owned by my father-in-law (who sadly passed away last year at 50) and he sold it to his brother. His brother crashed it but the car was repaired and it sat in the garage until now. Surprisingly, the floors are all there and look brand new with the exception of the trunk pan. It's an original slant six car that a 318 or 360 will be replacing here soon.

Thanks for listening!

Tony

Here's what I have to work with. I started working on it by sanding down the old paint and removing rust.

My father-in-law loved Mopar and we connected on them the most. His baby was the '59 Sport Fury (all original, numbers matching) and his '72 Cuda (original car).

This car was surprisingly in good shape. The floors are all there and I really don't have any crazy repairs to do. Well, I kind of do but hey, it's going to be fun

Wow! The car is in great shape by the pics. Any rust repair needed? Do you have the rest of the parts for the front? I like the snow tires!

Some rust repair but not much. I have to replace the lower quarter panels on both sides and the trunk pan as far as I can see. I do have another hood and both fenders. Other than the botched replaced quarter, I'd say it's going to be a good resto.
