Ha! Wiring looks really bad but is actually going smooth. The purchased harness is clearly marked as apposed to the pigtails. When all the connections are made and all the branches are zip tied in correct locations I will pull the whole thing out and everything will be neatly wrapped.

TPS wired in (throttle body just set close), crank sensor, Cam sensor and air temp sensor. Half of the delay issue is finding out what the wire color codes are for the factory pigtails I am using.

Flat stock made into crank sensor mount. Drilled several holes for adjustability but ended up slotting two to get it to mount correctly.

As per usual every detail takes longer than anticipated.
Removed unnecessary pieces.

Of course had to go in deeper than I wanted. Intake only had 1/8 NPT available but new temp unit is 3/8. Got creative with the tapered reamers and hand drill. Was able to find sockets that would grab on enough to turn them. The 3/8 opening is shown.

And par for the course, after all that and installing the sending unit it interfered with my custom water neck. So.... I removed the heater hose barb (not shown) from the manifold because it is 3/8 pipe as needed. Also plugged up the water pump outlet. I assume this will not cause any water pump issues. Heater was already removed for now so hoses are also not relavent.

Thanks all.

All of the pigtails are now connected.

All un-used wires are separated. Harness is wrapped and tied...

One of the many attention to detail items are the pigtail connections. IE: what version I think looks the best. I personally hate being able to see the wiring exposed at the connectors.
Here are the iterations am choosing from. Insignificant stuff but it is what it is...

A tip for connecting the pigtails. Cut one lead shorter than the other. That way when wiring is wrapped you don't end up with a big lump in one spot. One shown only has 2 but when there are more wires it gets ugly quick.

More to come soon with the plug in and power up.

I thought I was the only one that cares how the wires look.   :clueless:   Your as sick as me.   :smilielol:  Heck I even have to make it look good even if it can't be seen. I need therapy.    :roflsmiley:   Nice work sir.    :2thumbs:

Nice work,     I did pretty much the same as you with the EFI,  Trying to learn how to tune the MX3 now and fix a bug in the system.

I tend to find myself getting obsessed over clean, well thought out wiring as well.

Do you mind sharing where you are sourcing your connectors and what you are using for loom. It looks fantastic.

Thank you.
I joke that I suffer from ODD. Osessive detail disorder. Almost everything on this change has been done and redone multiple times. Halfway into something I see a better functioning or better looking way.

As far as my sourcing goes. Most of the pigtails are from my MS3 purchase from DIYAU... the remaining items are scavenged from a jy harness and cleaned up.
The wrap is a split nylon mesh purchased from a local house called Orvac Electronics. Mom and pop type place that is bad ass. I have seen the mesh sold elesware. I "cap" the ends of it off with shrink wrap where I can. Just have to remember to add pieced prior to connecting the pigtails. Ends where I could not and also some of the branches are tied with silicone electrical wrap. It stretches a lot and sticks to its self well without adhesive. Things don't get sticky like you get from the regular electrical tape.

The wrap closes up on itself. Real nice looking stuff.

Wires can be very messy. I like how you put them nicely together with the braided cable sleeve.

Harness is in and all relavent connections hooked up for this stage of setup. This stage it will only be controlling the ignition but cam trigger, injectors, etc... are all present.
I have communication!

Now on to more reading to figure this stage out. Plan is to try and bring on line as many of the pieces even if they are not currently being utilized. Such as calibrating the tps.
Anyone out there have a start up MSQ?

Mike.
