brake help

so was a nice day and needed to get quotes for work on the car took it 50 miles round trip on the back leg the brakes started giving out. it felt like there was no pressure in em i would have to put my foot to the floor to stop and even then the car would still move.  we just had everything checked out before i pulled it from winter hibernation. i stopped and checked the brake fluid was still full pads are good  is the mc/brake booster failing  ? thanks in advance for any help

If there's no obvious leaks, I say the master cylinder has failed.

thanks alan  any recommended place i seen u mentioned  napa had them for 73 e bodys can i use the same one ?

Happened to me on the way homer from a car show. Master Cylinder decided it's life was over and I couldn't stop the car from moving forward at a stop light. Pedal would go to the floor and the car would start creeping forward. Very easy swap if your brake lines are in good shape.

I got mine at an auto parts store, it was a rebuilt unit.

Yup...should be no problem. 

Check the entire system for leaks, rear wheel cylinders included first.

and depending in the age of the fluid,  consider replacing that as well

make sure all wheels turn freely. If something is hung up or dragging too much, fading could be an issue
