I wanted to start a topic on lowering the chassis onto the Hemi engine already mounted on the K member.
Dropping the body onto the Engine/trans assembly.
The clearances to drop the body over the engine on each side for a Hemi and clearing the apron shock tower is really really close. I'm talking less than a quarter inch on each side.
While lowering the body, it can easily end up hitting on either the driver side, (power steering box side) or the P/S side rocker hitting the shock tower.
It happened to me today and scraped a little paint off on the bulge that protrudes out.
Not a big deal, I'll get it blended in later.
I just wonder how in the hell did the factory put these behemoths in without hitting any paint surfaces?
The only thing I can come with to wiggle these in under such tight clearances is by tilting the engine assembly on the passenger side.
If you are experienced in getting these in, and do it like it's the size of a slant 6, I'm all ears listening.
