I've did it, lol. I finally bought the chrome surrounds for the Charger hideaway headlight system. lol. I'm converting my '67 Coronet to Charger headlights. I have good aluminum surrounds, but it's just cheaper in the ong run to convert over. PLUS - it looks cool as heck, lol.
Bought the whole head light set up a few years ago off ebay. The only thing you need is the upper chrome piece and the support brackets Have all that. Got the swithches and stuff. Need to figure out how to wire it all up.
In the long run was MUCH cheaper than trying to send stuff out to get re-anodized, etc.
Need to refinish my grill set up now. LOL. It will be a learning experience, I'm sure. If they could do it back in 1967, I can do it now, is my motto.
EEK! Those surrounds were kinda high - BUT- it's better than nothing, Cheaper than trying to make my own, AND I'M SO glad to have them available. Last year or so they were $450.00 per pair, so I got that going for me? lol. Man, that's a chunck just for a gril, though. But, WAY cheaper than the original aluminum surrounds. Mine are pretty much mint, but not show quality - with one ittle ding.
I really don't love this car, but the longer it is with me, the more I appreciate it. I HATE the one year tail light, ol. I love the fender skirts I have for it, brand new. Cra Cra Pimpmobile, lol.
It's a ove hate thing al the way around. It's kinda cool, but it sucks. it's not collectable. But it's bad a$$ in it's own way. Hard to describe.
SO very COOL how everything is metal. Not much plastic. I LOVE that about it.
Although that is a dying thought. I've seen a couple done up right, and they look ike mean street cruisres.
Please FEEL FREE to share your thoughts and pictures. (I have a dash to convert it into ac. I have bucket seats and a console, and the steering column, shifter, etc)
