Self Adhesive scuff plates for hood pins
« on: May 26, 2015 - 07:37:55 AM »
Does anyone have any opinions or experience on this type?  I have a fiberglass hood that the plates are scrached up and starting to pit. They are rivited in currently and someone suggested I look into self adhesive ones.

I would just drill out the rivets and put on new ones with rivets. it is maintenance free and you do not have to worry about the adhesive failing. If you ever have to remove the adhesive pads because they get scuffed and the adhesive is still good you might pull a chunk of paint off your hood. Also think that the adhesive might raise the pad and you have to readjust your pins.

Starting to pit?  I don't think thats possible, they are stamped out of Stainless Steel... If the hood pin hasn't worn a groove in the hood pins you can probably remove them, sand out the scratches & polish them up and re-install...

I agree I will be doing just that.
