On my way to Carlisle last year, my tranny decided to play games with me and put up a smoke screen.
I had a leak from the torque converter pump. It ran down my headers, thus making the white smoke cloud. I don't know if this is what you have, but dropping the tranny and having it worked on is the only fix. :madvibe:
