4 speed shift rods

Are the 70-71 and 72-73 shift rods interchangeable? I did read somewhere the later style might interfere with aftermarket exhaust, but is there any reason a set of 72-73 rods would not work with a 70-71 setup?

Only the reverse rod is an issue , the 70 angles forward , the later one do a large loop rearward & could interfere with the H pipe if you have one

I have the later type and it doesn't interfere with the H pipe.
