Bad luck has hit me again.
« on: June 12, 2015 - 06:01:42 AM »
I have been on here for a while and started my rebuild to driver quality. Not so much a show car by far. My car is something I have always wanted and been working on it by myself.
I got hurt at work in March of 2014 and been going threw hell to get well and get my car back in the road. Well Workcomp is messing with me now and work done broke many laws and will not let me come back.
I try to keep my head up and look for the better in everything now days but it's hard when all I worry about is paying bills.
But enough of that. I had to put my car on hold. I am going to have to pull my motor again and this sucks cause it is running down right good. It is by far a chevy and ford killer. I even got my used gear venders unit going. But on my last long drive I pulled the car in my shop and heard a very small deep sound. It almost sound like vale train so I pulled out the trusty scope and listen and herd in down low.
I would have already pulled the motor and had the machine shop fix it but funds are short.
I am just mad at myself cause I got so much time and money in this and have not even started on the body yet cause I want it to drive perfect before hand so I know what I got and truth be told when you get a old hot rod all nice and shiny you start getting the idiots who drive you nuts.
I even had a idiot ask me how I got my new challenger to look like it. I just gave them deer in head lights look and said very nice its  74 barracuda. Then most people want the sound mine has and I just tell them to open up there pocket book cause running a big can cost a lot to set up.
But as far as everything I am doing the best I can with a guy who blew out two vibrates in his back and the doctor says they can't do nothing at all.
The car most likely will have to wait for a couple years. This sucks cause I booked a trip to take it to cruising the cost in Mississippi with it.
Talked with a machine shop and they told me with the way it sounds and oil pressure and all I told them should be under 1500 and that is with rebalance of the crank and new H-Beam rods with my used Pistons that have under 150 miles on them.
That was good news to me but sucks I can pull the trigger.
If workman's comp would get off there but and back pay me due to I got notes still saying I can not work. Lawyer told me they have broke over six laws and he has a motion filled going to court for this.
Wish things moved as fast as I use to cause the system is slow and people who work in it are very lazy.
Sorry to rant for so long but know I had some guys fallowing me on here with my build.
The good news I did order my electronics for my gear venders to get rid of running it on a toggle switch but everything is on back order. Been waiting on that stuff for over three months now.
Thanks for reading and have a blessed day.

Hang in there, it took me two years to fix my car. First take care of any problems in your way and then you fix your car, it is still gonna be there waiting...

Thanks for the encouragement from you guys.
I have pulled the trigger and pulled my 340 back out and have it at a very good motor builder in Troy MO.
I am looking at doing a 416. The motor builder says I will be limited by my heads for horse power but he should be able to still hit over 500 on the set up.
As far as the rest well not really any good news yet. I don't wish any one to go threw what I got to live with everyday now of my life as in pain.

And the motor I am having done will be dyno tuned to with a sheet to show you guys what a little 340 will do.
Hoping for big block power so I can run down some of these cars that have big power adders on them.

It's going to be a long time before I do the quarter mile but I am going to try and brace the car up for handling with a buddy. If anyone has any idles I would greatly thank you. I thinking of taking 1/8" plate steel and some heavy wall tubbing.
If I get on the road first and keep my foot out of it my buddy is a great fabricator and the best welder I have seen. Then I'll put her on a rack and started blue printing ideal. There is also back roads by his house I can test on.
Thenumbers on this motor scared me where I want to get it in the car and drive it like a pissed off teenager but do not want to tweak the body.
Going to wait a long time for the wheels and tires. Bigger brakes will be down the road to and also sway bars.

I forgot two oil gallery plugs. By the time I realized it, it was to late. This is what I get for thinking the motor was done. Had some friends that told me about it after the fact.
Hard lesson learned.

How long did you work the motor until done ?
