512 stroker
« on: June 12, 2015 - 10:31:59 PM »
Finally got the machine work done on my block and thought I would share my build combo. E440 HP2 block that had to be taken to 0.60 over. Eagle 4.250" crank, Eagle 7.1" steel rods, CP custom flat top pistons with sealed top ring resulting in 11-1 compression. Billet steel main caps. Custom Comp solid flat tappet cam (specs in the pics)with full roller valve train - haven't decided on what to go with yet. Pro-Max heads CNC'd and flowing at 335 on the intake side. Running a 1969 stock aluminum six pack set up with a 3 inch exhaust with electric cut outs. Should have the dyno runs done in a couple of months. Let me know what you guys think the hp/torque will be? This combo will be running with a 4 speed (still waiting for Passon 5 spd) in a 71 cuda. Will upgrade suspension over the upcoming winter and planning on adding a black vinyl roof and white leather interior next year.

did you do a line hone?
Also, is 60 over ok for that block?
Better to bring it up now, than later.
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

I see the 6 pack as a limiting factor , at least use the full mechanical carbs

Yes, the block was line honed and new caps fitted also decked and 60 over to ensure bore center was correct.

Hi Guys,

I'm thinking of purchasing a hemi four speed transmission. I have located this one for sale. Just want to verify that it will fit my 71 cuda. I currently have a 23 spline 833 in the car now. I assume the shift rods will bolt up to this. It looks like it should work? Thanks.

You will have to change the clutch to an 18 spline..

Thanks Chryco. Thought it would be fine. Comes with the scattershield as well as a new clutch - will go look at everything tomorrow. Think he said 10.5" McLeod clutch. What's a fair price if everything checks out?

You want a 10.95" clutch minimum & with the power you should be making I would be looking at a Street Twin clutch to hold the torque

Block was sonic checked and bottom end is together. Hoping to have new motor and transmission in the car for next spring. Alyn Lee is doing all the engine work in Red Deer. He has done one Pontiac engine for me some time ago and I was very happy.
