Hemi question? My first Hemi install...
« on: June 15, 2015 - 10:52:52 PM »
I'm helping a buddy install a 426 into his 71 Cuda. Those tubes that go into the exhaust from the back of the manifold. I welded a plug in the tube at the bottom where it goes into the cast iron header and on the exhaust pipe it was not drilled thru. My question is , in the intake I'm assuming it just does a loop to heat up the intake for winter driving?  Like it is not joined to the intake tract so I don't need to worry about them leaking. ?

:)  I like that picture because I worked at that speedway for 25 years and this season was it's 50th anniversary when a developer bought it out and shut it down for  mega concerts  :stomp: :villagers:

Went over at 8pm last night removed the 416 stroker and had the hemi bolted in by 1pm.  :2thumbs:  Sure was a fun experience! We had to take the passenger side valve cover off. It sure was "squeezy"  :grinyes:
Next is install the 416 stroker into his freshly restored 71 Challenger, it's Winchester grey!   Is it ever pretty!  Funny Mike and I meet when I got my fenders painted. He was the only one around that would do it. We have become pretty good friends. I've said it before but the friendships I've made so many friends because of my car! How cool is that! Love them Mopars!  :ylsuper:

Looks like a blaster coil mounted on it's side. Some of us have had problems with that mounting and the insulating oil leaking out. I would keep a watch on it and check for oil seepage at the top of the coil after it's been warmed up.

  Ya I've heard that, mine has been mounted like that for years with no issues so far.

I've heard that to but I've seen lots of cars with it mounted that way. We got a high vibration MSD coil just to be on the safe side.

That's my plan too if it ever screws up.  :2thumbs:
