Modern engine for classic Challenger

I am currently trying to decide on which engine to go with for a classic Challenger, I want a gen 3 Hemi but I'm not sure which one. The 5.7 seems like a powerful and reliable motor, since it goes in a lot of trucks and can be made to really scoot. However, I love the idea of having a 392 stroker, or 426 stroker. My main question is, what parts between the 392 and the 426 are interchangeable? What parts that are made for the 392 can I use on the 426?

you can buy a crate gen3 392 now, or pull one from a wrecked SRT, as far as the parts go, call Arrington Engines, the specialize in gen3 hemi strokers

I think I would rather buy a crate motor, because it will be set up to work in an old Challenger (if I order it that way) with an older TorqueFlite 727 (which I am planning on dropping a Gear Vendors overdrive kit in). I would love to have that new TorqueFlite 8 speed 8HP90, but that would be extremely expensive and probably difficult to do.

I've heard the swap (new eng in old car) can be difficult
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

I'd stick with the old style engine but upgrade to fuel injection and an overdrive trans of some kind. No serious modifications required ,you'll still have the horsepower ,get better fuel economy (like it matters) and will improve the overall performance of the car.
