Nothing exciting here just posting some updated progress pictures

Had to pull the crank and #1 and #2 connecting rods to grind part of oil pick up tube housing, got is cleaned up and put everything back in.

Also we got 4 cylinders in now, great on gas mileage :)

Not much of an update here, I ordered a Shaker hood and got that in the mail recently.  I'm in the process of putting the fenders on and hood just to check for any alignment issues.

Just pulled the trigger on a cam, so that should be here shortly

Other than that i'm going to start rebuilding the spare K member I have so that I can swap it out with the one in the car.  Still doing some research, but going to obviously replace all bushings and ball joints.  Going to convert it to a front disc brake set up, just need to find one I like.

I am planning a similar engine build with the original K-frame. I am looking for around 650 HP so I welded in the K-frame re-enforcement kit from Firm Feel. I am also planning on some other upgrades to my already installed frame connectors, torque boxes and front clip kit from US Cartool. I want a low torque engine that won't fall apart when I step on it.

While you have the car apart, I would weld up your Big Block K Frame and install a US Car Tool chassis strengthening kit, especially when dropping in big power. If not the whole kit, then I would do subframe connectors and torque at the bare minimum and maybe even the firewall braces too. If you are going for handling, the whole kit may be worth your time. I did subframe connectors and torque boxes first, then decided to do the firewall braces after.

I wish I got stuff done at even half your pace.

I concur on the frame stiffening aspect, makes a huge difference in how the car will react to the power and handle.

Great build.

I'm curious how the fittment is on those front fenders?  How do the lines (especially the lower part) match up w/the doors?

that's a HUGE hole in the doors, fore where the mirror go.  I'd weld it up; and get some OEM 1970-style mirrors.

Black would be awesome!  I'd put on a red butt stripe and maybe red seats/door panels in it (leave dash, console, carpet, headliner black).

That red would look pretty sweet but I'm going to build it as a clone to my 2010 Challenger SRT8, so I can have two clones, 40 years apart.  I guess there is a red stripe on my SRT8 seat, and red calipers so who knows what i'll do.

As for the fenders, I haven't got them all bolted on yet, but I did lay the hood on and the lines looked pretty good,  Will need some minor adjusting I believe at this point.  Once I get around to applying all the bolts I'll get some additional pictures.

I will look into the front end kits as you mentioned, it's definitely something I want to do.

should be a striking pair when done. I thought about the same thing albeit opposite direction when I bought my 2010; thought about getting a hemi orange car to match my 70, but couldn't resist the PCP version.

Ahh I love the pic man.  I'll be there one day.... or years  :)   How is it going from one to the other?  I'm assuming my 70 will have more power than my 6.1 liter so I may have to compete against myself and beef up the 2010 a litte

Also I forgot to add, I have no idea why there are extra holes in the door  :dunno:  but ya I plan to fill the unnecessary ones before it goes to paint.

Going from one to another is as different as you can imagine; the 70 is crude, loud and simple. The 10 is refined, not as loud (still rumbles), and complex. While I love my E bodies, I have to say that the new LX is really having your cake and eating it too. Fast, fun, stops, is comfortable, etc. if I had to sell off my cars, I would be very torn about which way to go. I would likely keep the E bodies only because you can still get a new LX platform and there are plenty out there.

That pic is dated as I have done a lot of work on both cars.
