Pivot Pins/Rubber or Urethane?
« on: June 18, 2015 - 01:31:27 PM »
K-member and other parts are primed so it's time to start ordering suspension parts.  I had removed the entire pivot pin from the LCA including the sleeves (?).  I was going to buy greasable pins with urethane bushings but some folks have suggested staying with the rubber for ease of install since I have the sleeves out.  I've frequently heard that Urethane is better for suspension parts so should I mix and match usage of OEM rubber on the pivot pins and urethane elsewhere or 100% one or the other?

I'm in the same boat, I got the FF greasable pins with urethane bushings, but changed my mind after getting advide here, so I ordered the starndard pins (and they are out of them right now...), so now I either have to wait a month, or use the urethane. My old stock pins are bad.
I got urethane on the rest also. I believe the best way is to go with stock rubber though. I dont like the way the LCA can move back and forth with the urethane bushings.

I have Ff's greasable poly LCA bushings, no problems with them at all, car drives great, handles welll. DO install offset UCA bushes for max caster.

So when the T-bar and everything is mounted, there is no play back and forth in the LCA? (I got the FF tubular UCA's also).

I have Ff's greasable poly LCA bushings and pins to . No issues either. If your really concerned/think it will slide back and forth on the pin then seat the torsion bar all the way in and/or make spacers so it fits snug to the torsion bar clips.

Thanks folks.  I too was looking at the FF pivot pins but Dennis said since I had everything apart then the rubber would be fine and hardly notice a difference if you could compare to the urethane. Others have told me that the urethane will last longer. This will be a driver/cruise night so does the longevity support the price difference if performance is not noticeable?.  Sounds like a mix and match will be fine.
