Axle endplay on 8 3/4
« on: June 20, 2015 - 10:10:54 PM »
Thanks to several on here I was able to adjust the RR axle endplay on my '73 Challenger successfully but I have probably twice as much on the driver side which I know isn't adjustable?  Seems like when I had the RR adjuster all the way in there was no endplay on the driver side but when I unscrewed the RR adjuster to about where I thought it should be the driver side endplay showed up.  Does this make any sense?  Should I have endplay on the driver side too?

The adjustment on the passenger axle adjusts both sides, the thrust transfers from one axle to the other either through a thrust block or thrust pins...   Personally I like to run the adjuster down to zero end play then back it off two notches... Not much at all....

Thats pretty much how its done, just might have to pound on it with a dead blow to seat the bearings and axles to make sure the adjuster winds down to zero before backing off two notches
