Thank you for allowing me to join this group, I am in the procces of restoring a 1970 Challenger R/T 340 4speed car for a friend, and its my first total car restoration, and more then likely take some time, I am a good painter and welder so I hope that helps.........
This has been parked away in a hay barn since 1979, we drug it out afew weeks ago, motor and trans out of car already was pulled back in the day.
hardest part was removing all the hay! ....here's a few pics to get you going on the same page as me.....we are looking for a over head consule and T/A Hood as this will be built as a T/A clone. this was my friends first car too....bought it in 1973 at age 16..........

I love it!  Those first pictures are really cool !!  What a cool feeling it is to find one in a barn like that.  :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

Can't wait to see the progress.

Cool story, but they never made a 1970 Challenger R/T with a 340. :2cents:

Very cool find.

A model diarama of it from the photos would be a nice compliment to it after it's restored.

Don't be "sorry" ... never mind him, that's just Alan being ... well, Alan ::)  Check out this thread and you will see what I mean, and the skinny on the whole 1970 "Challenger RT 340" thing http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=96644.msg948883#msg948883  The whole thing was pretty much semantics like Po-tat-o vs po-tato, and to-mat-o vs tom-ato.

Anyway, welcome aboard! Looks like you and your friend have a pretty nice project there. Amazing how things can get tucked away, and then wind up sitting for so long (36 years?!) before we get back to them. Well we certainly hope that you will keep us all up to date on how your project comes along by posting your progress here in this thread ... and we love pictures too :picture: Speaking of pictures, you might as well post up one of the fender tag ... cause it won't be long before someone on here asks to see it :grinyes:

Welcome to the site and congrats to your friend on having the thought and ability to squirrel that away for so long! Hopefully, buddy has the wit to at least preserve the original 340 and powertrain for a future owner who will care what's in it.

We would definitely like to see the fender tag information.

Is there a build sheet?

Do all the numbers match?

How much documentation is with the car? I would think since he had it so long that he might have some of that information still.
