a 904 filter

I'm I missing something?  On valve body where the filter mounts shouldn't there be a a "nipple" that goes into the filter? Also the Trans Go shift  kit I installed came with a "mesh" type filter similar to the factory fiber filter except there are two holes for trans fluid.

There is a gasket between the valve body and the filter...that's it.  The mesh filter lets more fluid flow through it.  It probably doesn't filter as much as a stock filter though.  I've got the mesh filter on one of my 904s.  I'm curious what the trans gurus say about it.

I kinda remember a black rubber "sleeve" that was on the filter. I have not used the transmission so I don't know the history of it.  The filter that was mounted in the transmission did not have any gasket, the mesh filter from the shift kit does not have a gasket?

I'm pretty sure mine has a gasket.  I googled "904 trans filter" and this image popped up.

The triangular gasket is the one that goes under the filter. I also found out the filters two holes are for, one for the front pump and the other for the rear pump. The original filter had only one hole.
