Front Tire Size HELP,,,size recommendations...

I would like some comments on what you guys would use,,,,,

I am going to run a 295/65/15 Drag Radial out back ( 8 inch Pro Star rim with 4.5" backspacing )

What size FRONT tire would you go with ??

I would like something with a "higher" profile,,,,I just don't know what I want,,,,or what would look correct....going to run a standard size prostar rim up front,,,

Hey doug, car looks awesome. yeah i am kinda in the same boat, i have  M/T-SRs 28x12x15s on the back and the matching tire up front is only 26" in dia. i mocked it in place and thought it was to small looking so i put a 245x60x15 in there it's 27"s and it looked much better. problem is the M/Ts don't come in that size unless it is something like a 10' wide tire. I have seen challengers with the 26" M/T-SRs on the front and was not bad looking , maybe its becuase its still in the garage during mock up and once its finished and on the ground it may be ok not sure.

I saw a 70 with a 255/60/15 tire,,,,on the front,,,,and I thought it looked pretty good...
I put the spec's below,,,,This is real close to 27"
I usually get my tires and rims from Harlow Racing ( in Michigan ),,,,Brian is a great guy,,,,I might see if he has any thoughts as well...

I saw a 70 with a 255/60/15 tire,,,,on the front,,,,and I thought it looked pretty good...

Thx Doug, alterkation is at roseville ill go get it when i get home as i work away. anyway yeah 15" tires are almost hard to find in the right size it seems. i wasn't really paying attention when i bought the S/Rs as the front tire options are very limited.if i dont like it i will have no choice but to go with a different brand maybe hoosier radials or if all else fails a bigger rim size. I am not a big fan of bigger wheels and i like the look of a bigger side wall but to each their own some guys do like it.

Are you actually racing it or just cruising?

I ask because if you're racing, the roll out of the tire will be a bigger determing factor in size selection because of overall diameter. 

With the same back tire as you have, I had a similar diameter front tire in 28x6. I found I had to adjust my leave time on the light and was outside my comfort zone in doing so and my rt's became very inconsistent. As I started going to shorter tires, my rt's improved and my consistantcy improved along with it so I could more reliably run  on the number. I eventually ended up with a 24" tall front tire and needed to re-adjust the suspension to relevel the car.

If you aren't racing, then find one that  looks good and gives the rake you want with a reasonable width.

This will just be a "fast" street car,,,, so would like a good look instead of RT help....at least at this point...lol..

I run a "tall" tire on my Belvedere ( strip car ) and had to adjust how deep i stage, and launch RPM,,etc,

I have 235/60x15's on 15x8 wheels on the front with 275/60x15's on the rear.

second pic is slicks w/ 235's on front.
 
Now for the track I run 28.5/10x15 slicks and morso front runners 7.10x15 (27" tall)
