Is my "stock" Mopar distributor up to the task?

In the middle of rebuilding my 440.

Here's the basic specs:

- Factory forged crank
- 440 Source forged h-beam connecting rods
- ICON forged pistons (-12 dish)
- 915 heads (at factory specs for now)
- Cam... not sure of, but for the purposes here, let's assume a Mopar purple cam. Maybe the 488.
- Factory Six Pack intake/carbs
- Heddman headers
- Flowmaster 3" exhaust

The question my builder has, is whether the stock type Mopar (chrome) electronic ignition/distributor will be a bottleneck for power, or will it be OK?

My goal with this build is to get around 450-500hp, while keeping a stock appearance, so I really don't want to go billet distributor/MSD route if I can help it...

Will the stock set up work for those power levels? I'm thinking yes, but would love confirmation. :-)

P.S. I believe the coil I'm using is a Pertronix Fireball. The black, stock-looking one.

I would avoid a stock Mopar distributor.

I went MSD all the way. But there are
other good systems.

Chrome box is pretty good, orange bow I'd be scrapping...   You will need to sort out the advance curve...

I'm just using a stock rebuilt  purchased from my local jobber. Running MSD box and a limiter kit from FBO

Simple answer is yes , I have done this numerous times true stock you will need to weld the slots in the advance plate to limit the curve or use the FBO limiter plate like Brad , or use the newer replacement with adjustable mechanical advance .
 I would be looking at a Lunati VooDoo cam , less duration so more vacuum which makes tuning the 6 pack easier & great power

Actually... I MAY have the newer one w/ mechanical advance. It's been a few years since I bought it, so not 100% sure what I have. 

If I DON'T, that FBO plate looks like the ticket. Thanks!
