The east coast is hard on cars but I agree I like to see any complete car brought back. If this was a 340, 383 or 440 car then you could save it. You would still loose money on it but it would be nice to save. This is a 318 car and even though we never plan on selling them, inevitably we do.
If it isn't far I would go look at it, take stock of what's there (like the complete dash for instance) and write down what sheetmetal it needs. Then come home and price out AMD metal for it. Then you can make a qualified decision. I am assuming you have a welder and can weld, otherwise please don't consider it.

:iagree: Also add all the missing parts' prices which will bring the price to the moon... IMHO choose a complete car whatever the rust but complete.

I wouldn't buy it if I were you, just the sheet metal will get you over 2k (rough estimate). The parts 'cost will be a nightmare. Just the glass would cost you 1k unless you find used. :scared: I would wait a couple years to save more money and find a better,  more complete deal, I know it's hard but you'll see it's better then. And FWIW I wouldn't have  paid more than 1k for this car...

:iagree:  That is a MAJOR project, and unless you and your son have some serious skills it will cost you $35k+ to get it in decent shape.

What do you have your heart set on?  Cuda/Challenger?  Year?  Motor?  Trim?  And what is your budget?

More or less, the plan is to get an ebody. I prefer a 71 cuda. My ideal car is a 71, lime green, billboards, crate hemi and Keisler 5 speed. Still want it to look mostly original. No rest mod stuff. This isn't going to be a quick restoration. I plan on ten years.  But only because we're doing the work ourselves. Everything.

I saw that one come up. Only problem is, I despise the 72-74 challenger grills and tail lights. I'm not sure if that's fixed like the cuda grills where I can swap in a 71 grill to make it more appealing???

That's what a project car should be all about  :2thumbs:. You have a complete car that needs a lot of work, but not a hunting treasure quest for parts  :banghead:

an se would have jh29 for a vin #, the rear window is a plug insert made of fiberglass. i am getting a lesson on the overhead console relays and wiring right now on my gran coup, and the car already had the formed headliner and console. tracking down parts and picking brains.the guys here have been a big help. studying diagram's so on can be time consuming and parts are not cheap. i got lucky and found a low fuel relay for a good price! thank you again 1wildrt. and that is just one aspect of it,these guys have your best interest at hart and want you to how what you will be in for. good luck and BTW it grate that you want to do a father/son project.
