1) if your car didn't come with the trunk trim why would you add it...
2) I wouldn't buy anything from Jim's
3) the clips shown above supplied by Jim's are wrong
4) if your gonna add the trim ten minutes with an Auveco catalog would get you a box of 50 clips similar to what Jim is selling for less than $30...
5) paint the trim panel & the grill both black....
6) the lock doesn't go through the trim panel. it's installed first.....

I can't figure out how  where the curved clips attach to the molding?  I see a total of  13 fastener locations , 7 screws across the top and 3 studs on each side along the quarter panel.

Ok after searching the internet I see new holes need to be drilled ( not real keen on that) I found this picture then circled the hole locations in green. What happens if you don't use these 6 curved studs? Will the lock cylinder be enough to hold it in place? Will it rattle?
I see the hardware here but $159 for the 6 studs I need IF I want to drill the holes.... :grinno:

Yes you will need all the holes to hold it on properly.
The lock doesn't help hold the trim panel on at all.  It is actually just accessible through the hole in the trim panel.
Try calling Year One and see if they still have the clip set.  Yes, it will be way to expensive.   :smilielol:

Use 2256, cut the spring wire off & use sticky caulk often called dum dum  to hold the  clips in position as you fit the panel... Once the bolts are tightened the clips will never move & no one will ever see them...

Hey Brad, I did not drill the lower holes I used the clips on each side and across the top screws and I put the truck lock thru the hole in the trim used the small gasket/plastic ring like the ones on the door locks. mine at least is very secure and no way going to move :2cents:

Thanks! Its been awhile since I've had them off  but I figured I'd use the fasteners that hold on the quarter panel trim that's on the car now.
Next step for me is finding paint......

If you've decided on Argent try this

#1 Krylon Black Textured shimmer #2520               Dark Argent
#2 Krylon graphite Textured shimmer #2521           Light Argent

Ace Hardware carries it....  Closer to the original finish than the stuff Totally Auto sells, cheaper & you can buy it locally....

OEM Paints
http://www.oempaints.com/

Expensive but the texture and color are about the best I've seen.
I used their Medium Argent on my Grille, also used their Organisol on my tail panel and their Black Out on my Go Wing and Front Spoiler.
All rattle cans.
My engine bay is their single stage EF8 from a rattle can too. When I tell people they are amazed that it is single stage rattle can.
Expensive is the big negative for all their products.

Unfortunately my R/T-SE has the holes drilled. I am going to just stick some smallhead bolts in there with caulk to keep them sealed. No way you need them to hold the applique on with the screws on top and fasteners on the quarter end caps.

Just an update of sorts.... I bought rattle cans from Roseville, wasn't sure which colour I needed so I bought both light and dark Argent.
The dark argent is closest to the original ( my grill/headlight bezels are also the same colour)  It's close but seems to be missing the occasional black spec that's in the original and has no texture.  I did a spay out test on a scrap piece of aluminum to try it out.  I'll have to take some picture so others can see what I 'm talking about.
I went to numerous local box stores and hardware stores looking at paint but nothing seemed right.  I'll have to get some paint from oem paints like Cudaragtop suggested and try that.

Pretty hard to photograph but here's what I did for paint. The first one is a photo of an original piece I have but the metalflake bits are worn off, I should have photographed a late 70's issued NOS 71 centre cap I have but I didn't want to dig it up.
